Hello! I’m Pamela. Having recently returned to my native Vancouver, I lived in Asia for many years. My multi-cultural background has given me a unique perspective and special interest in cross-cultural issues. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the corporate world where I interfaced with executives from around the world. This background has given me an intimate understanding of the business environment and the challenges one faces while working in it. Married for more than 30 years and a mother to both an adult and teenager, I love spending time with my family hiking, cooking, playing board games and travelling. My Christian faith is an important part of my life.
I offer a safe, confidential and nonjudgmental setting to explore your concerns with the aim of gaining insight, recognizing strengths and restoring equilibrium. No one is immune to hardships in life. Whether you are dealing with trauma, self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression or relationship problems, I will walk alongside you to gain clarity, understanding and healing. We will work together to find the right strategies to help you grow and to navigate through the tough times with greater strength and resiliency. Taking an integrative and holistic approach that works with your mind, body and spirit, I use a combination of psychotherapy and body-based therapies to bring about positive change and balance in your life. I believe in a collaborative approach when working with counsellors. As a supportive partner, I see my role as offering perspective, building confidence and sharing knowledge. My goal is to help counsellors acquire competence by recognizing and cultivating their strengths as well as encouraging growth in areas of development.
I hold a Master in Counselling (2015) from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (1985) from the University of British Columbia. Additionally, I am certified in Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) and have also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Couples Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy for Individuals (EFIT).
In addition to the above modalities, I have experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also utilize aspects of Positive Psychology and Neuropsychology in my practice.
